Virellia Online is a game that brings back the classic nostalgic feel of early 2000's 2D MMORPGs. It is inspired by indie games made with PlayerWorlds, ORE and Mirage Source.
Virellia was originally made back in April 2009, inspired by a popular indie 2D MMO that came out in the year 2000.

What's the status of this project? I used to love Deloria back in the day.

Glad to hear it. Is the Discord community still active? The link above seems to be invalid.
No sadly. The community was closed as the future of the game was uncertain. Development hasn't yet started as it's still in planning stages
